Researchers create functional mini-liver by 3-D bioprinting
Publicado em 18 dezembro 2019Technique developed at Human Genome and Stem Cell Research Center, funded by FAPESP and hosted by the University of São Paulo, produced hepatic tissue in the laboratory in only 90 days and could become an alternative to organ transplantation in future. Credit: Daniel Antonio/Agência FAPESP Using human blood cells, Brazilian researchers have obtained hepatic organoids (“mini-livers”) that perform all of the liver’s typical functions, such as producing vital [...]ver notícia -
A combination of agrochemicals shortens the life of bees, study shows
Publicado em 31 maio 2019A nonlethal dose of insecticide clothianidin can reduce honeybees’ life span by half; once combined with the fungicide pyraclostrobin, it alters the behavior of worker bees to the point of endangering the whole colony. Credit: Pixabay A new study by Brazilian biologists suggests that the effect of pesticides on bees could be worse than previously thought. Human Bone Reveals How Much Radiation Hiroshima Bomb Released — And It’s Staggering
Publicado em 01 maio 2018On Aug. 6, 1945, the United States dropped an atomic bomb nicknamed “Little Boy” on Hiroshima, Japan, leading to a nuclear blast that instantly claimed about 45,000 lives. The amount is staggering: Analyses show that the jawbone’s radiation dose was [...]ver notícia
