Scientists create chocolate-flavored honey using native Brazilian bees
Publicado em 24 de novembro de 2025
Chocolate-flavored HONEY has been created by scientists in Brazil.
The team used a product from native stingless bees to extract bioactive compounds - such as caffeine - from chocolate manufacturing waste.
They say the process adds nutritional and commercial value to an ingredient that is usually discarded.
Researchers from the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP) developed the new product.
It is made from native bee honey and cocoa bean shells and can be consumed directly or used [...]

Study finds Amazon trees growing bigger despite climate change
Publicado em 25 setembro 2025Average tree size across the world’s largest tropical rainforest has increased by 3.2% every decade for the last 30 years – consistent with a response to rising carbon dioxide levels, say scientists. The international team of researchers said their findings show the “remarkable resilience” of the forest. The team of almost 100 scientists monitored the size of trees in 188 permanent plots and discovered that the increase has continued for at least 30 years. The [...]ver notícia -
People who eat too much of junk food more likely to die young
Publicado em 28 abril 2025People who eat a lot of junk food are more likely to die young , warns new research. The more ultra-processed products - such as burgers, sausages and chips - you eat, the more likely you are to die prematurely from a preventable death, say scientists. The new study analyzed nationally representative dietary surveys and mortality data from eight countries - including the UK and United States. It shows that premature deaths attributable to consumption of ultra-processed foods , or UPFs, [...]ver notícia -
113-million-year-old fossilized ant found in Brazil is oldest ever discovered
Publicado em 24 abril 2025Scientists say it is a member of Haidomyrmecinae - an extinct group that only lived during the Cretaceous period. By Stephen Beech A 113-million-year-old fossilized ant is the oldest ever discovered. The “remarkably well-preserved" hell ant was found in limestone in Brazil. Scientists say it is a member of Haidomyrmecinae - an extinct group that only lived during the Cretaceous period. They had highly specialized, "scythe-like" jaws that they probably used to [...]ver notícia -
Eight or more alcoholic drinks a week more than doubles risk of brain damage
Publicado em 09 abril 2025Drinking eight glasses of wine or pints of beer a week more than doubles the risk of brain damage compared to teetotallers, suggests new research. Boozers who down eight or more alcoholic drinks every week have an increased risk of brain lesions associated with memory and thinking problems, say scientists. They explained that the condition, caused hyaline arteriolosclerosis, causes the small blood vessels to narrow, becoming thick and stiff - making it harder for blood to flow, which can [...]ver notícia -
Study claims weight training can help reduce dementia risk
Publicado em 07 abril 2025Weight training helps protect older people from dementia , according to new research. Volunteers with mild cognitive impairment who practiced strength training showed improvements in memory and brain anatomy after six months, say scientists. Weight training has been previously shown to improve strength and muscle mass, reduce body fat, and contribute to well-being and mental health. Now, a new study conducted at the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP) in Brazil suggests it protects [...]ver notícia -

Study says more than 150,000 die every year from heat waves
Publicado em 14 maio 2024More than 150,000 people have died every year worldwide due to heat waves since 1990, according to new research. Europe had the highest population-adjusted mortality rate, according to the first global mapping of heat wave-triggered deaths. The global surface temperature has increased by 1.14 degrees Celcius from 2013 to 2022, say scientists, and is expected to rise by another 0.41C to 3.41C by 2081 to 2100. They warned that, with the increasing impacts of climate change, heat waves [...]ver notícia -
