Experts call ultraprocessed foods a public health threat, urge governments to step in

ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Ultraprocessed foods have become so common in grocery aisles, school cafeterias and most restaurants that many people don't think twice about eating them anymore.
But new research says the rise in ultraprocessed foods is fueling serious health problems worldwide — and fixing it will take more than telling people to “eat better.”
