Covid hasn’t passed, so here’s a safer alternative to the gym
Publicado em 26 julho 2021
Findings from a new study suggest remotely supervised training sessions are more effective than face-to-face exercise classes during the covid-19 pandemic. The results of the study appeared in the journal Research in psychiatry.
Researchers from the University of Sao Paulo (USP) in Brazil studied the effects of regular exercise on the physical and mental health of 344 volunteers during the pandemic. The study compared the effectiveness of three techniques: in-person sessions led by a fitness [...]

Octopuses have two major alternating sleep states – and can even experience dreams
Publicado emOctopuses are known to sleep and change color while doing so. Now, a study published on March 25, 2021 in the journal iScience finds that these color changes are characteristic of two major alternating sleep states: an “active sleep” stage and a “quiet sleep” stage. The researchers say that the results have consequences for the development of sleep and may indicate that it is possible for octopuses to experience something similar to dreams. Researchers used to believe [...]ver notícia -
Low cost second generation ethanol production powered by genetically modified enzyme cocktails
Publicado em 19 agosto 2020Brazilian researchers used genetic engineering to develop a low-cost platform for the production of enzymes that break down sugarcane waste and bagasse for conversion to biofuel. The new molecules have many potential industrial applications. Researchers from the Brazilian Center for Research in Energy and Materials (CNPEM) have genetically engineered a mushroom to produce a cocktail of enzymes that break down carbohydrates in biomass, such as sugarcane junk (buds and leaves) and bagasse, in [...]ver notícia -
The enzymatic cocktail developed in Brazil fuels the production of second generation ethanol
Publicado em 19 agosto 2020Researchers from the Brazilian Center for Research in Energy and Materials (CNPEM) have genetically engineered a mushroom to produce a cocktail of enzymes that break down carbohydrates in biomass, such as sugarcane junk (buds and leaves) and bagasse, in fermentable sugar for industrial use efficient conversion into biofuel. The development of low-cost enzyme cocktails is one of the major challenges in second generation ethanol production. Second generation biofuels are produced from various [...]ver notícia -
Astronomers identify the interstellar asteroids that inhabit our solar system
Publicado em 20 julho 2020A study conducted by scientists from the Institute of Geosciences and Exact Sciences of the State University of Sao Paulo (IGCE-UNESP) in Rio Claro, Brazil, identified 19 asteroids of interstellar origin classified as Centauri, objects of the external Solar System that revolve around the Sun in the region between the orbits of Jupiter is Neptune. An article on the study entitled “An interstellar origin for high-inclined centaurs”; is published in Monthly notices from the Royal [...]ver notícia
