An 18-month post-doc fellowship is open at the Atmospheric Physics Laboratory at the University of São Paulo's Physics Institute (IF-USP) in Brazil. The post-doc will develop data-based models to predict greenhouse gases (GHG) concentrations and related environmental variables in the Amazon, in order to support simulations with a regional weather model for future scenarios of land use and climate in the next 50 years. Machine learning models will also be developed to improve weather and land surface model parameterizations. The tasks of this fellowship include process and analysis of georeferenced data. This hybrid modeling framework aims to assess land use change impacts in GHG sources and sinks in the Amazon. Requirements: Experience with Python programming, time-series and longitudinal data regression, georeferenced data analysis. Background in geostatistics, data science or applied mathematics is desirable. Candidates must have completed a PhD no more than seven years prior to application. Applications by email (lmachado@if.usp.br), including: CV; date of PhD conclusion; academic record of graduate courses; motivation letter describing previous experience and research interests. |
