FAPESP will discuss an integrative approach to clinical long-term effects of COVID-19 (8 notícias)

Publicado em 27 de maio de 2021

While many patients with symptoms fortunately can survive acute disease, a substantial cohort undergoes a sustained clinical picture, exhibiting a subacute stage or “long” COVID-19. FAPESP has proposed this webinar to discuss an integrative approach to this evolving new clinical condition. They will tackle the patients’ evolving clinical conditions and the challenges of dealing with the subacute phase. These patients persist with (ocasionally severe) fatigue, joint and muscle pains, neuro-psichyatric symptoms, and several other clinical ailments. Renowned scientists sharing their research and clinical practice will take part at the webinar. While the etiology of subacute COVID-19 remains unclear, disturbed immune responses, viral persistence, and neural cell damage may be possible mechanisms. The long and post-acute effects of COVID-19 will be the theme of the next FAPESP COVID-19 webinar that will be held on June 2nd.
