Research grants funded by FAPESP (São Paulo State Research Support Foundation) across the country were readjusted by 6.7%. The new values came into effect last Thursday (1st).

In a note, the state government says that the readjustment approved by FAPESP’s Superior Council, on May 24, refers to the accumulated of March 2022 and February 2023, according to the inflation measured by the IPC-Fipe (Price Index to the Consumer) of the Economic Research Institute Foundation).

“FAPESP had already readjusted, in April of this year, the value of research internship grants abroad and research grants abroad. Now we readjust the scholarships in the country”, said Marco Antonio Zago, president of the foundation, in the note.

“FAPESP’s expectation is to attract more and more young people to science, supporting their training, qualification and offering them opportunities to join projects and research groups that are already consolidated”, he said.

An adjustment was also approved for the PC-IV course participation scholarship as of June 1, 2023. “Taking into account that this scholarship is intended for taking a course abroad, the percentage applied was the same given for abroad (BEPE and BPE), on April 1, 2023”, he said.

For scholarships in progress, FAPESP explains that it will automatically supplement the remaining monthly fees from the date the new tables take effect.
