Goodwin’s Technology team, led by Andrew Sparks and including members across various departments, has successfully advised Terragia Biofuel on completing a $6 million seed investment round. Engine Ventures and Energy Impact Partners led the funding push to support Terragia Biofuel’s trailblazing biological approach for converting cellulosic biomass into ethanol and other valuable products. This significant capital injection will enable the 2022-founded technology startup to commercialize its sustainable liquid fuel production technology, scale its workforce, and form critical partnerships with established biofuel producers. Terragia Biofuel leverages research collaborations with Dartmouth College, the University of Campinas, financial backing from the U.S. Department of Energy’s Center for Bioenergy Innovation, and research fundings like the São Paulo Research Foundation, the USA’s Department of Agriculture, and the National Science Foundation. The diverse Goodwin team, inclusive of IPTS specialists Kevin Liu and Jinny Kim, as well as Tax experts Ora Grinberg and Garrett Gaughan, was extensively assisted by Natalia Yaroshevskiy in facilitating the deal process.
