Just at the edge of our solar system is the dwarf planet Quaoar, and recent observations of the planet have found a dense ring around it, but scientists can’t figure out how — or why — it’s there. Discovered in 2002, Quaoar exists in the Kuiper Belt, a region of space beyond Neptune where at least 3,000 planets are known to orbit the Sun.
