A Academy of Medical Sciences, a British Academy e a Royal Society, do Reino Unido, anunciaram os primeiros pesquisadores selecionados para receberem Newton Advanced Fellowships. As bolsas são oferecidas a professores jovens com vínculo com universidades e institutos de pesquisa e com expressiva atuação em pesquisa.
A oportunidade foi oferecida para colaboração de pesquisadores britânicos com colegas do Brasil, China, México, África do Sul e Turquia. Foram aprovadas 18 propostas do Brasil, das quais dez são do Estado de São Paulo.
O financiamento britânico se dará por meio do Newton Fund, fundo de apoio à pesquisa em ciência e inovação do governo britânico e é em contrapartida ao apoio das Fundações de Amparo à Pesquisa de diversos Estados brasileiros aos projetos selecionados na chamada de propostas lançada em 2014.
